PONG (1972)
«Pong» es un videojuego arcade clásico lanzado en 1972 por la compañía Atari.
Fue uno de los primeros videojuegos populares de la historia y se considera un precursor de la industria moderna de los videojuegos.
Fue diseñado por Nolan Bushnell y Al Alcorn de Atari y se basaba en un juego de tenis de mesa o ping-pong.
El juego es muy sencillo: los jugadores controlan cada uno una paleta en la pantalla y deben rebotar una pelota de un lado a otro sin dejarla pasar.
El objetivo es anotar puntos haciéndole pasar la pelota al otro jugador y lograr que la pelota pase por la parte inferior de la pantalla del adversario.
A pesar de su simplicidad, «Pong» se convirtió en un éxito inmediato y generó una gran cantidad de imitaciones y clonaciones.
El juego fue muy popular en los salones recreativos de la década de 1970 y ayudó a establecer la industria de los videojuegos como una forma de entretenimiento comercial.
«Pong» también fue un hito en el desarrollo de la tecnología de los videojuegos.
El juego utilizaba una pantalla en blanco y negro y tenía gráficos muy simples, pero su éxito inspiró a los diseñadores de juegos a crear juegos más sofisticados y complejos en el futuro.
Hoy en día, «Pong» sigue siendo reconocido como un hito en la historia de los videojuegos.
Su influencia puede verse en muchos juegos modernos que utilizan la mecánica de juego de tenis de mesa o ping-pong.
