La feria se lleva a cabo en Llobregat, Barcelona con más de 150 juegos para probar.
En apenas cinco años IndieDevDay ha pasado de ser un pequeño encuentro para unos cuantos estudios independientes celebrado en la FNAC del Triangle, en Barcelona al masivo evento nacional con mayor presencia indie que tiene lugar este fin de semana en La Farga, en Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona) con encuentros, talleres, ponencias y la asistencia con estand de unos 120 estudios y artesanos que llevan para ver y probar 170 videojuegos.
La aventura comenzó en 2018 a iniciativa de Napoleón Malpica, del estudio de juegos retro Napa Games que, en su búsqueda de gente que le ayudase a organizarlo contactó con Daniel Santigosa, un desarrollador que tenía experiencia organizando eventos culturales y que es quien está al frente del equipo que organiza IndieDevDay y otros eventos como Cometcom. Cabe destacar que en cada edición el encuentro, contó desde el principio con el apoyo de la Asociación Española del Videojuego.
El año pasado, la feria dio un salto importante con el apoyo de varios patrocinadores como Devolver Digital o Ubisoft Barcelona y cosechó gran éxito con el edificio de Cotxeres de Sants abarrotado los dos días del encuentro. Este año el encuentro realiza una apuesta más arriesgada aún ampliándose a tres días (del 8 al 10 de septiembre) y con un espacio mucho mayor; La Farga, en Hospitalet, con 8500 metros cuadrados para celebrar el encuentro. «Hemos visto que era super necesario que siguiéramos creciendo, dado que el año pasado el recinto estaba totalmente ocupado. En las fotos se ve claramente que estaba hasta arriba y era necesario crecer», explicaba a Vandal Santigosa esta semana.
No solo hay más espacio para los visitantes. Añade: «Además, estamos buscando la internacionalización del evento, por tanto, habrá muchos más estudios, muchos más juegos y muchas más actividades, por lo tanto, era esencial cambiarnos a un espacio mayor, en este caso, siete veces más grande». Así, se ha duplicado el número de expositores entre desarrolladores de videojuegos respecto al año pasado y se han sumado artesanos.
Durante los tres días que durará el evento se llevarán a cabo diferentes actividades como charlas y exposiciones en diferentes escenarios y salas de conferencia. Por ejemplo, las charlas previstas para el viernes se centran en los aspectos relacionados con la creación de videojuegos, para analizar las necesidades del sector y de los publishers o cómo mantener una comunidad alrededor de un juego, mientras que el sábado y el domingo se habla de aspectos técnicos.
